about the artist

Jonathan Virginia Green is a visual artist from Tulsa, Oklahoma. He graduated from the University of Tulsa with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in painting in 2011. He has exhibited his work in much of the United States Midwest including Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Ohio, and recently extended to California. His work is concerned with perceptual phenomena that is oriented within a queer/transgender experience. He uses his work to explore interpretations of desire, pleasure, and transformation. His practice includes painting, drawing, and video.

In 2016, J. V. Green cofounded the Oklahoma Figure Art Alliance with five other artists. OkFAA is a collective that is united by a common interest in promoting and exhibiting figurative art. In 2019, Jonathan Green ended his two year long tenure as the Gallery Director of Oklahomans for Equality, an LGBTQ+ advocacy organization.

Currently, Jonathan is pursuing an MFA at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
